The Lush Art Team of Creatives
Owner/Art Instructor, Cara Heard
Lush Art is locally owned and operated by me, Cara Heard.
Lush Art is my vision of how a paint and sip studio should be. When you come to Lush Art you are treated like family, not like a number going to a corporate office. It is about the experience of painting, not the final product. We want you to build skills each time you are in our doors that you can continue to use. That isn't just in painting, it is now to live life to the fullest. Letting go of negativity, stepping outside of your comfort zone, building confidence, and finding your tribe.
I think art should be available to everyone of all skill levels to provide comfort, a creative outlet, relaxation, and a place to escape from reality. You can do that either by coming alone or coming with a group of friends or family.
There is no fun in perfection. SO LET THAT GO AT THE DOOR and enjoy yourself.
I prefer art that contains few hard straight lines and more of an easy flow. Always remember art isn't suppose to match your couch!
I want Lush Art to be for everyone (man, woman, and child), but the mainstay will always to be providing a place to encourage women, to give women a place to escape and create without someone nagging them, pulling at them, or asking of them.
"If you ask me what I came to do in this world, I, an artist, will answer you; I am here to live out loud." ~Emile Zola
Art Instructor, Nancy Gillies
Nancy has taught children’s art for over 20 years. You will delight in using her simple step by step method at Lush Art that inspires confidence and smiles. “You got this!” She has been with Lush Art since September 2014.
When she expressed an interest in instructing adults, a fellow art teacher commented, “It’s no different than teaching kids except they don’t pee in their pants!” With that in mind, Nancy embarks on a new adventure at Lush where art is lighthearted and whimsical.
Nancy’s husband is an art teacher too! She has 3 daughters, one son and a puppy who thinks she is a princess. Her kids tease her about her fear of The Wizard of Oz and clowns. Nancy enjoys road trips to explore small towns, especially local diners and antique stores. Favorites include painting “FUNiture”, peanut butter, movie quotes, the Young and Restless, the Dos Equis guy, and Charleston.
Nancy looks forward to meeting you so, C’mon and paint something amazing!!!
“Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.”
– Pablo Picasso
Art Instructor, Sarah Kilmer
Sarah Kilmer has been living in Warner Robins since 2007. Sarah moved here for a job opportunity directly after graduating from Valdosta State University. She has been married to her husband, Matt, for four years. They have two dogs, Roxy (an American Bulldog) and Chloe (a black Lab). They love to travel in the summer and love spending time with their families!
She has spent about half of that time at the elementary level and the other half at the middle school level. She loves teaching smaller children because of the pure excitement that they exude while producing art! But, she enjoys teaching older children as well because they grasp techniques better and are at an age where they are beginning to find their own way as an artist.
Sarah took an interest in art at a very young age. Her grandparents used to save comic strips for her from the newspaper and she would look at the cartoons and try and draw them exactly as they were. She continued replicating works of art early on. She did not have a strong art program to guide her in elementary or middle school. However, she was fortunate enough to have a great program and mentor in high school. That’s when she decided that she enjoyed drawing and painting so much that she wanted to have a career in it! Sarah enjoy teaching because of the passion that she is able to put into her work and because of the outcome that comes from those that she has had an impact on. Teaching is a very gratifying profession. On most days, she truly feels as though she is making a difference in someone’s life!
Sarah has been an instructor at Lush Art since April 2015.
Artist Assistant/Art Instructor, Rhonda Jackson
Rhonda has been drawing for as long as she can remember. She started using other mediums when she took art in high school. After injuring her right elbow playing hockey her junior year, she learned to paint left handed to complete her assignments. She enjoys the art of Frida Kahlo, Edgar Degas, and Janet Fish.
Rhonda grew up in Macon, Ga and graduated from Rutland High school. Her major in college was history and she enjoys reading, researching, and learning about historical events. She has been happily married for 8 years. In her free time she enjoys drawing, painting, cooking, watching anime, sewing and is learning to crochet.

Studio Manager/Art Instructor, Heather Watson
Heather Watson is a self taught painter, literature enthusiast, and nerd. When she isn't managing Escape Artists, she spends her free time binge watching Netflix, playing Destiny, and drinking sangria. Heather was born and raised in middle Georgia. She currently resides with her boyfriend and their tiny zoo of domesticated animals in the sticks of Crawford County. To Heather, art and painting is a great way to relax and decompress after a long day. She enjoys painting landscapes and abstract, but loves learning and trying new techniques.

Art Instructor/Assistant, Ximena Barnes
Ximena has been living in Warner Robins since the summer of 2015. This young lady moved here for a job offer as a nutritionist shortly after finishing her degree from the University of North Florida. She has been married to her husband, Levi, for a little over a year. They enjoy trying new food together and take a food tour of a city at least once a year. Yum!
She first fell in love with art during her high school years. Ximena attended a visual arts magnet school with a concentration on oil paintings, and landscapes. As the years passed art became her passion. She loves experimenting with colors and textures in her paintings. To Ximena everyone has an artist within, patiently waiting to create.
Ximena looks forward to painting with you!
